Content of impurities
Kerosene extracted from natural oil can contain up to 30% aromatic hydrocarbon compounds and up to 1.5% sulfur, while technical kerosene is characterized by a reduced content of these impurities.
In order to achieve the concentration of impurities required for technical kerosene, namely 7% aromatic hydrocarbons and up to several tenths of a percent of sulfur, the initial kerosene is subjected to deep hydrogenation or special purification based on the use of hydrogen-containing substances.

Kerosene KT-1 is an insoluble flammable liquid, which includes various types of hydrocarbons, nitrogenous, oxygen, and sulfur impurities. Most often, fuel is added to summer diesel fuel or is used for firing glass and porcelain products.
Kerosene KT–1 allows to:
- obtain alkenes and aromatic hydrocarbons;
- dissolve and degrease various formulations and liquids;
- clean and rinse metal structures, parts, assemblies;
- maintain washing machines (with additives in the form of magnesium and chromium salts), etc.
- as fuel;
- for dissolving and degreasing compounds;
- for cleaning and washing components;
- for the maintenance of washing machines;
- as an additive for summer DT.
Differs from kerosene KT-1 by a lower content of benzene hydrocarbons. Kerosene KT-2 is excellent for cleaning moving parts of technological equipment. Additives enhance anti-wear and antioxidant properties. Kerosene KT–1 surpasses KT–2 in most important characteristics: ash content, flash point, and density. Technical kerosene KT-2 has a lower freezing point and is casually added to winter diesel fuel. KT-2 is highly demanded in the production of ethylene and its derivatives by pyrolytic method.
In addition, kerosene KT–2 is used in ceramic production for the manufacture of refractory materials, porcelain, and earthenware products. In each of these cases, manufacturers value a product for its high energy intensity and ability to burn completely at high temperatures. Technical kerosene KT-2 is used for preventive maintenance and to reduce the wear of various units.

Transportation and storage requirements
Kerosene has been assigned the 4th hazard class, which must be taken into account when organizing storage and transportation. Kerosene is transported in tanks on fuel trucks.
