Stable gas gasoline (naphtha)

Stable gas gasoline is a liquid transparent petroleum product produced during the processing of petroleum gas by gas fractionation of marginal hydrocarbons. Stable gas gasoline consists of the main components C5–C6 and small concentrations of other hydrocarbons. It is an inflammable, explosive, and fire-hazardous liquid with a low boiling point.

The octane number of the substance is 40-60 units. Depending on the raw materials used, production technology, physical and chemical properties, gas gasoline can be light or heavy. It is used in the petroleum and chemical industries as raw materials for gas fractionation plants, pyrolysis, gasoline compounding, blending, and export.

Receiving and scope of application

At the first stage of obtaining gas gasoline, pretreatment is carried out — distillation and purification of propane and butane gases. During the distillation process, special components are added to the raw materials. During low-temperature separation, they bind molecules and separate the finished substance. In the future, propane will be removed during stabilization.
Gas gasoline is used for the following purposes:

• degreasing of electrical equipment during repair and installation;
• extraction of rosin from wood;
• manufacture of synthetic fabrics and artificial fur;
• removing old paint coatings from surfaces;
• creating mixtures for washing equipment;
• production of paint and varnish products;
• manufacture of mastics and sealants;
• cleaning of metal surfaces for the application of paint and other coatings.

Gas gasoline, unlike automobile gasoline, is used only in the chemical industry.

Naphtha

Naphtha is one of the petroleum products, also known as light or crude oil. It is made from crude oil or other raw materials and used as a chemical raw material.

Crude oil is distilled until the distillates are isolated from secondary refining. The boiling point range depends on the need, usually, it is a wide range of distillation, for example 30-220℃.

Scope of application

Naphtha is most often used as a raw material for cracking and extracting ethylene. A distillate with a temperature from 70℃ to 145℃ (light naphtha) is used in the production of ethylene. Naphtha is also used for the production of benzene hydrocarbons or gasoline with a high octane number, however, in this case, a distillate with a temperature from 70℃ to 180℃ is required, as well as weighing of ligroin. It can be used as a solvent (solvent naphtha). At the same time, aromatic solvents from coal tar should be weighed similarly to ligroin and ligroin solvent.

Naphtha is the important raw material for cracking in tube furnaces extracting ethylene, propylene, and catalytic reforming to produce benzene, toluene, and xylene. The content of alkanes and naphthenes in naphtha should be more than 70%.

When using catalytic reforming as a raw material to produce gasoline components with a high octane number, the raw material is a wide fraction with a boiling point range of 80-180 ℃. When used to produce aromatic hydrocarbons, the raw material is a narrow fraction with a boiling point range of 60-165℃.
